Russia in 2012: Forces for Change

In Russia, December was by far the most eventful month of 2011. United Russia's poor showing in the December 4th parliamentary elections and the street demonstrations that followed undoubtedly sent a jolt to the leadership. Although Putin's election in March 2012 seems assured and we do not foresee a "Russian Spring", some of the complacency of the Putin/Medvedev administration may disappear from Russian politics, at least for a while. Russia in 2012: Forces for Change gives a personal view of the year's principal events, as contributed by a number of our colleagues from CMS, Russia. The Review is now in its third edition.
