On 11 March 2010, President Dmitry Medvedev introduced to the Russian Parliament several laws in draft form intended to establish regulations for an alternative procedure for the settlement of disputes - mediation. Mediation has not previously been expressly provided for by Russian legislation and there was no detailed description or procedure for it in any legal act.
